Spring Clean: Part One

Spring is here!

Along with the temptation of Easter chocolate and slightly milder weather conditions the month of April always signifies a financial fresh start.

For some lucky people, April is the arrival of tax rebates, savings interest payouts and a new financial year to start saving for. But let’s not stop there.

It’s time for that all important clear out! Raid your lofts, cupboards, shelves and storage under the bed for items of potential value and get selling online.
I found that over the winter months when I am cooped up at home, too cold to go out, and nothing to do but browse online and make some remarkable (sometimes rather stupid) purchases online to appease my boredom.

I’m well aware that I am guilty of this rookie mistake and wasting money making purchases on things I “want” instead of things I “need”.

Now I need to make amends and de-clutter and raise some cash in the process. There are many great posts on this out there already with blogs like Penny Golightly  inspiring mass clear-outs across the nation.

So with some guidance from fellow bloggers I have been hunting through the flat and some of the storage at my mums house to come up with a few of my own potential sales.

Here is what I have found so far:
  • Dresses (some still with tags)
  • Accessories (scarves, belts, etc)
  • Books
  • Shoes (some haven’t even been worn)
  • Set of 3 candle holders
  • Decorative and ornamental items
  • DVDs
  • Jewellery
I have found great link for eBay tips to optimise your sales at MSE here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/selling-on-ebay

I’m going to create all my ads this weekend and I will let you know how I get on in part 2 with a breakdown of what I sold and how much it went for. Hopefully the amount I raise will help inspire others to clear out their junk and save for more important things! :)

If you have already completed your spring clean I would love to hear your success stories? What was your biggest seller? How much did you make?

Keep you posted.
